On July 29, 1987 Lucille Babcock saved a woman from an assault in Little Rock, Arkansa. A 22 year old woman was screaming as she was being assaulted by a man. Lucille, 65, witnessed the assault taking place near her apartment. Although she was disabled and needed her back and leg braces to move effectively, she approached the offender and attacked him with her cane. The offender attacked Miss Babcock making enough time for the young woman to flee. After stricking Miss Babcock once, he fled the scene. Men throughout the neighborhood caught the offender and waited for police. The 22 year old woman was treated for multiple injuries that she was easily able to recover. Miss Babcock was able to recover from exhaustion.
