#4: Summary and Critique of “Race” Politics “Race” Politics is a poem consisting of twelve stanza by Luis J. Rodriguez. In this narrative poem the speaker is telling a story about a time when him and his brother decided to stand up for their rights. Furthermore, it started when the brothers decided they shall go wherever they wanted to because they are men. In addition, they felt they were brave enough to stand up for themselves since one of the brothers are tough. Parallelism is included in this poem when the speaker used “Plenty reasons to” to show a hyperbole. The teenagers attacked them and hate them because they are Hispanic. “Punching until swollen and dark blue he slid from their grasp like a rotten banana from its peeling.”
