The impact of the Mỹ Lai Massacre led to reduced unjustified killings of other innocent people. After the massacre, GIs became skeptical of what of other things their superiors were hiding. It caused the morale of soldiers to drop even more. It weakened the belief that the US could actually win the war and increased anti-war sentiment and dislike of US involvement in Vietnam. Anti-war protests began and Americans considered the Vietnam War as immoral and unfair. There was increased doubt of the US, and the murders of innocent people terminated Americans’ trust in America’s virtue and morality.
