My impression so far of the movie “Signs” by M. Night Shyamalan (released in July of 2002) is that I’m greatly impressed by the detail the director and screenwriter put into it. The main characters are Graham (Mel Gibson), Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix), Bo (Abigail Breslin), and Morgan (Rory Culkin). For example, things that are done by the characters can definitely add tension because it allows me to relate to them, as if thinking “Well I would have done that too if it were me,” and it makes the audience care about the characters because they can relate. The specific actions of the characters also builds suspense and the feeling of uncertainty, we don’t know exactly what goes through their minds so we have to judge that by what they do. An example
