the extremes ities that people will go to achieve power. Although Macbeth already has
much power, being the Thane of Glamis, his ambition is what leads him seeking the
control of the throne. Through murder, manipulation, and deceit, he achieves everything
he’s desired, yet he brings his own downfall. Macbeth has strong ambition, and he is clear with his thoughts on seizing the
crown, but he is too kind and loyal to do anything about it. With the appearance of the

Macbeth is determined to gain control of Scotland, as well
of his wife, whom deceits him of being “too full o’the milk of human kindness”. After
murdering Duncan, he begins to feel guilty for what he has done, yet he is delighted to
be named King of Scotland.
The weird sisters had also predicted that Banquo will have a line of kings.
His decision to kill Banquo and Fleance was based on his obsession with keeping
the power to the throne. In order to maintain the position as King, he realizes he has to
kill Banquo and his son, due to the fact that the sisters have predicted his offspring be
heir to the throne. Macbeth forgets about his loyalty and friendship with Banquo and
orders him and his son to be killed. Paranoia of not being King is what leads Macbeth
to commit murder, and break his loyalties.
Everything the sisters had predicted had become true, in fear that he would be
overthrown, he also sends people out to murder Macduff’s family. The guilt of having
