In my opinion, the politics of fear discussed in the Macho Politics video is slightly naïve. From the words expressed by Dr. Liz Elliot, I gathered that she believes deviant behavior is most effectively solved through strong societal relations. To a certain extent I am inclined to agree with her. However, there must be a balance between what is considered being tough on crime and the ideas expressed by Dr. Liz Elliot. From what I understood in the video surrounding the Texas conservatives, they are closer to what I consider to be the ideal way of dealing with criminal behavior. I do question however, the effectiveness of these initiatives when the offender does not want to change their behaviors or mindset. While holding criminals accountable
