Macklemore's popular song called Otherside featuring Ryan Lewis despites Macklemore's experience with drugs and where it led him in life. He begins to talk about his first experience with Lean when he saw that his friends were sipping on it in a styrofoam cup. While he is sipping on a very addictive drink he is also in a hotbox smoking weed with his friends. This is what becomes the beginning of his addiction that affects his life and career. After months of using Lean and weed his use went up because he had built up a tolerance and addiction to the substances. The use of a substance going up is a common behavior of those with a substance abuse problem because they have gotten addicted and rely on the drug. He talks about lean becoming his medicine, it had become such a normal part of his daily life that without it he felt weird. His addiction had gotten worse and he talks about waking up with a cold sweat, and his skin itching.
