Macklemore's popular song called Otherside featuring Ryan Lewis despites Macklemore's experience with drugs and where it led him in life. He begins to talk about his first experience with Lean when he saw that his friends were sipping on it in a styrofoam cup. While he is sipping on a very addictive drink he is also in a hotbox smoking weed with his friends. This is what becomes the beginning of his addiction that affects his life and career. After months of using Lean and weed his use went up because he had built up a tolerance and addiction to the substances. The use of a substance going up is a common behavior of those with a substance abuse problem because they have gotten addicted and rely on the drug. He talks about lean becoming his medicine, it had become such a normal part of his daily life that without it he felt weird. His addiction had gotten worse and he talks about waking up with a cold sweat, and his skin itching. These are common behaviors that the body goes through when a person is addicted to drugs and it is because their body is wanting more of that drugs. I would say he fits into this theory because he started doing these drugs because his friends were doing them. This was a form of peer pressure, possibly doing it to fit in because like he said all the rappers like Lil Wayne talk about sipping on lean and how great it is. Social Theory model incorporates the Tension model, which would make since because Macklemore felt a lot of pressure to make music and to make money because he was getting older. He experiences life in a more positive experience while he is on drugs. Once he is no longer addicted he talks about how they made him broke, depressed and emotionally vacant.
