This a magazine interview conducted by David Hiem. In it he interviews veteran cop and author, Adam Platinga. In his first round of questioning Platinga mentions what he has classified as “compassion fatigue.” This phenomena that he is referencing refers to the idea that cops have to deal with the worst kinds of people and how even the victims can be bad people. And dealing with this crowd of people can erode your sense of empathy for others. And leave you with nothing but sinicism and anger towards the human race.
