The ABCs are the priority as with any patient. In treating preeclampsia or eclampsia, the goal is to sustain the mother’s life and health and the fetus will respond accordingly. Because the cause of the seizure is unknown our main goal end them and obtain control over the blood pressure. The drug of choice for this will be Magnesium sulfate, it relaxes smooth muscle contractions without producing harmful CNS depression in the mother or fetus. It will also help with hypertension. The means outweigh the risk for the usage of this drug. It will cross the placenta barrier and it will have negative side effects of the fetus.
