In the poem Making Sarah Cry and in the short story Don't Give Up the Fight the similar theme for each story is perseverance. In Making Sarah Cry, Sarah shows perseverance when she stood up for a boy who bullied her, and in Don't Give Up the Fight Ava stands up for herself against a coach and a boy who bullies her. While both of these stories share the same theme, the characters actions are completely different. In Making Sarah Cry, sarah stands up for a boy who was getting bullied and not for herself, while in Don't Give Up the Fight Ava gets bullied and stands up for herself and not for anybody else.
