“the angriest black man in america”… this is what the said about the man we all know as Malcolm X. he wasn't always known by this title, to his parents they knew him as Malcolm Little, in his youth he went by the alias Detroit Red and on his death bed he was known as El-Hajji Malik El-Shabaz. “Why am I as I am? even before Malcolm was born his family went through a tough time due to his father spreading the teachings of the United Negro Improvement Association which was shaped by Marcus Garvey. they had been victims of racism constantly for example when his mother was pregnant with Malcolm, hooded Ku Klux Klan members break the windows of his family’s house in Omaha, Nebraska and these attacks were one of many. it is said that three of his fathers brothers where killed due to white racist attacks. due to the threats on their life the family relocated to Lansing,Michigan where his father was rumoured that he was brutally murdered by another racist group known as the Black Legion, yet the police ruled it of as a car accident, these were the events that started to send his family into a spiral downfall as his mother endures a mental breakdown due to the demise of her husband, which consequently led her to be institutionalised and forced him and his siblings into foster care. he was sent to school in which he was the only black boy and believed that they treated him as a pet rather then a human …show more content…
it is believed these events were the events lit the ember for him to turn to a life of crime as he believed that as he was black he could amount to nothing, as we all know this is not true as he has left a legacy which has been left in the hearts of millions even till current times all over the globe. a few years after these events Malcolm Little moved to Detroit ,and thus causing Malcolm Little to be no more and Detroit Red was born. this is were he met his accomplice and friend ‘Shorty’ who later on was known became to known as the comedian Redd Foxx. these two went into a life of crime and drugs, as they believed they had to hustle to get out of the ghetto as they were black and this was the only way for them, they eventually got caught and received 10 years in prison this was where the main change
