Nepean river in Orchid Hills, Luddenham Rd/ River- NSW- there is a monument that was built by the citizens of St Mary's in dedication to Reverend Samuel Marsden and Gregory Blaxland. Gregory Blaxland and other settlers were the first to ever cross the Blue Mountains, which was commonly known as The Great Dividing range. Located in Orchard Hills is a beautiful farm known as the CatholicCare Mamre house and farm that occupies 200 acres of land built by Rev Samuel Marsden, this was built as a farm for animals.

In this location there is a farm and house owned by Samuel Marsden and Richard Rouse. The farm was a model farm and was used for sheep breeding experiments as well as for growing crops, this is where the wool industry really took off. The Mamre house has a deep and long connection with the Sisters of Mercy as in 1984 the mamre house was leased to them dedicated to finding unemployed individuals jobs. Catholic care now owns the land and made it into a restaurant which is now being shut down. It will forever be remembered as it was an insight into how homesteads were like in the 19th century.
