I remember my second to last cheer competition. My competition was is in Denver, Colorado in a coliseum called Denver Coliseum. This place was huge and indoor. This place sits about 60,000 people and it seemed like this place was full but it really wasn’t. I fee like there might have been about maybe 5,000-10,000 fans there on December 7th. The coliseum was like an oval so the audience was everywhere and always surrounding you. They have a special section for friends and family to sit so they can get a good look out there daughters or sons performing. There was a garage place under the coliseum and that’s where we practiced and warmed up. There are eight mats that are on the floor and about 6 to 8 judges are right in front us and 4 judges that walk around the mat with there clipboard and they make sure no bobby pins, bows, shoes fall off and if we step off the mat. We were the last ones to compete in our large varsity coed division. Before us there were the three greatest teams in Colorado that already competed before we did like Castle View, Douglass County, and Boulder high school. My squad knew we had a chance to win just because those teams were dropping stunts and not keeping up with each other. So my team knew that there was something wrong with this mat and that oh well were going to mess up to so it’s going to be anyone’s game to get that 1st place trophy. We went on there with confidence on our faces and just forgot about all of the other teams before us. The UCA staff came to our team and said we were next and need to get ready. We sung out little song by Chris Brown “Look at me now” before we went on after we finished the announcers came on and said, “Please welcome the Sand Creek High School Scorpions!!”
Before we knew it we were on the mat and our music came on and it was blasting. Our first hard opening stunt was coming up and we all knew that we had to hit this or we are toast. I’m the girl who is under the flyer holding her up. All I can do to help my flyer is tell her she has this lets take first, and just that quickly everyone in the stands were getting loud and cheering us on. We hit 1 than 2 than 3 all on time you can just see it in the corner of your eye. We put up our flyer with no struggle, even though she is 4’10 and weighs 80-90 pounds, she pulled her heal stretch like it was no ones business. After that the 2 bases, Cynthia and I, and our back spot, Melanie, slowed her down to our chest and put her straight back up and
