Realism in Literature Fictional literature is often written in a way that it accurately represents society making it more than just a story to the readers. The author does not intentionally do this, but the stories are written in such a way, that readers are able to make a connection. Whether it is a small connection, like a real place or event, or a larger connection that teachers them a life lesson. Literary realism adds great depth to a piece of literature, elaborating all the little details that are in the writing providing the final touch by bringing the novel or film to life. Two pieces of literature that are a great example of literary realism is the novel Sarah’s Key by Tatiana De Rosnay and the film The Courageous Heart of Irena
