In this cartoon, Marc Murphy expressed symbolism, exaggeration and allusion on how you don't have to buy a hat to “Make America Great Again” but you have to earn it. Symbolism is expressed through the picture of a graduation cap. This hat shows a way that you are able to earn the spot of “Making America Great Again.” Along with the cap being the center of attention it is able to show how much more it means to earn something to be great rather than to just buy it. Furthermore adding exaggeration through the underlining of the word this in the title, Murphy was able to show how important it is to earn THIS hat rather than any other.
