In Maria Jimenez narrative, entitled "Twice a Minority", she truly is a double minority. Her Latin heritage establishes her as a minority in the United States, while her being a woman in the armed forces also makes her a minority. By being both of these together she is, as she says in her title, twice a minority; however, she also claims that being a minority in two different ways has taught her knew lessons, especially when it came to raising her children, who themselves, are minorities.
