Writer and former first lady of California, Maria Shiver, ignited USC graduates during her remarks on Tuesday, by imploring students to find the ‘power of the pause.’
Shiver explained the ‘pause’ as a time to appreciate life and its current state and to reflect inward.
The idea of pausing was a perfect topic for the current graduates of communication from the Annenberg School. In her metaphor life is one big remote and we are in control of the pace.
Advocating for change shiver stated, “You have the power, each and every one of you, to change the way we as a nation speak to one another. I truly believe you can change our national discourse for the better.”
