I don’t recall a time where she was a narcissistic person, for she would put strangers before her at any given moment. As a teenager she was always the neighborhood babysitter. She would watch the kids for hours upon hours. I even remember her watching the neighbor’s kid overnight with no extra pay because of the threatening weather. She was always willing to help those surrounding her. She had done countless hours of community service, was an after school tutor to those who needed it, and was a star athlete all through high school. Her attitude towards school and extracurricular activities was outstanding, for she could get home late at night and have the same smile on her face. Once her track meet ran late when someone broke their ankle. She made certain the kid arrive safely to the hospital, and stayed with him until his family arrived. She came home with a smile and a medal, proving her dedication towards people. As for her future dreams, she wished to be a nurse. We would sit up all night and talk about our lifelong dreams. When I told my family how long the trip would be she broke out in tears. I didn’t know what I could do, I had already proved myself worthy of the trip, losing countless hours of sleep. I had trained for that upcoming day, and I was willing to drop it all for her. She told me how I could never miss out on a once in a lifetime experience, and was beyond happy for me. As long as I would still care for her, she allowed me to go. Little did my sister know, the trip was a very dangerous one, and by fulfilling my duties I was risking my entire life and future. To launch myself into space, I was risking all relationships I had on Earth. At take off I looked out the window and saw her smiling at me through the glass. I saw a tear in her eye and that’s when we took off. Not long after that I got an emergency call regarding terrible news, and heard Marilyn’s voice. Hearing her voice was great, but I knew her actions had destroyed her entire life ahead of her. All of the years dreaming of her future goals were gone.
