Michael, their eldest son was the 3rd generation of Markey’s in the United States. Michael Markey married Elizabeth and had six children. He was a farmer like his grandfather and father. He was also a woodworker and made spinning wheels and reels. Michael was a member of the Church of the Brethren and walked six miles to church. According to the History of the Markey Family 1750-1979, two characteristics of the Markey family were farming and selling their products at the local markets.
