Martha Rosler is a pioneer for feminism and an American artist born in 1943. One of her earliest notable works of feminism “Semiotics in the Kitchen,” challenges past and contemporary social dynamics with a dark humor to open the eyes into the women experience. The exploration of feminism, media and war in Martha Rosler’s artworks become a part of a new found modern women. Her practice through her writings about arts and culture take form through many mediums, such as photography, photo text, video, instillation, sculpture, and performance. A quick observation of Rosler’s work is that it is centered heavily on the public spear of every day life.
