Sieges typically rely on the starvation of the besieged area as a primary factor, but Mars could produce enough food to feed their populace, albeit with strict rationing. Because of this, the Lunarites turned to intimidation to move the siege along, hoping to force the Martians into a peace treaty. Every few days, the Lunar fleet would bombard natural landmarks, roads, or historical areas, while trying to minimize the casualties inflicted. What they didn’t expect is that this only motivated the Martians more and more each day. The Martian propaganda wing was working overtime to tell the story of the godless foreign invaders, killing friends and family, and erasing history bit by bit. With this, the Martian populace slowly moved from opposing their government to being staunch supporters of it. With the support of the people in hand, the consul and her senate began the repairs on what remained of the Martian fleet, and prepared a weapon that would ensure victory.
