Title of project: What factors led to the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. and its aftermath?
Outline Plan My RSR project is an examination of the factors and events leading up to the assassination of Martin Luther King. I'll be looking at the American government's actions, as well as an in-depth look at King's final day. This project is historically significant because King's assassination was one of the most impactful of the 1960s, but yet conspiracy still surrounds the tragedy. It was a defining event of the civil rights movement and had long lasting effects on the American psyche. I believe it is important to know the truth about what transpired on the fourth of April, 1968.

Martin Luther King Jr. Assassination, published 22 July 1968, accessed on paperlessarchives.com on 12 October 2023 I found the Memphis police report on King's assassination to be helpful as a primary source. It offers a detailed and in-depth timeline of events of King's assassination. It was also useful to see the police’s movement throughout the day and their surveillance of King’s activities. However, it was difficult to comb through the sheer amount of information as the report is 67 pages long. The grand majority of this information did not have a place in my essay. This may have caused me to miss out on some details on the assassination. There is also the concern of bias in the report. Due to the controversial nature of King at the time, the police may have had an incentive to downplay their surveillance of King or to leave out any mistakes made. If the conspiracies are to be believed, the police may be covering up their own involvement in the assassination. I do not believe that last part, but I have to keep in mind this kind of bias as I evaluate this as a source. I also have to consider factors outside the day of the assassination that are not included in this report, such as the FBI'S surveillance of
