Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune was born near Maysville, South Carolina. On July 10,1875 she was a child of former slaves and was one of seventeen children. Dr.Mary Bethune overcame many obstacles throughout her life and achieved many things such as becoming a teacher. Dr.Bethune believed in many things. One of the things she strongly believed in is that education provided the key to racial advancement. Being a teacher Dr. Bethune made an impact on many lives. She not only provided her students with the academic education she also provided them with Education on life. Mary attended the founding meeting of the United Nations. Which she was the only African-American woman to attend the meeting. Among all of the magnificent things she accomplished. She
