Mary Surratt didn’t deserve to be sentenced to death just because her boarding house was being used by Booth. On page 137 it says “In Washington, the occupants of Mary Surratt’s boarding house prepared for bed, too.” This quote shows that Mary Surratt’s boarding house was being used by Lincoln assassins. Although she had interactions with Lincoln assassins, she didn’t deserve to be sentenced to death.
I believe sentencing Mary Surratt to death was too extreme. I think Mary Surratt should’ve owed time in jail/prison
