Mary, the Director of Nursing needs to get Peggy’s statement immediately and then let things settle one day and talk to her again as she might be so shaken up she will have forgotten some important information. The statements need to be written down by each employee involved with additional interviews if necessary. Also Mary needs to make sure Peggy is reassured that Mary and the company are in full support of her. Peggy may be scared of the rebuttal if she says anything and may be intimidated due to the position of the Senior Manager.
The unethical behavior of the Senior Manager is uncalled for and illegal, both companies need to let it be understood there will be serious consequences and possible termination for sexual harassment. Both companies need to follow protocol with HR and I would follow up with Peggy to make sure she is mentally ok as this could effect her long term if it is not dealt with properly.
Joe should be rewarded for jumping to the defense of his colleague, although the story does not say Joe saw the incident happen, the fact he came to his colleagues aid when he heard her in distress and told the donor to leave is excellent management skills in this event (he is not management but he took charge).
