Firstly, I’m going to speak about what personality masking is and ultimately, the impact it could have on your mental health and what it may look like. What is a personality mask? Personality masking refers to the occurrence where individuals conceal their true personality traits, emotions or behaviours and instead present a different person to obey social norms. This masking can occur consciously or unconsciously and may be motivated by various factors such as desire for social acceptance, fear of judgement or rejection, or the need to fit into a particular social or professional environment. People may adopt different personas or behaviours depending on the context or social situation they find themselves in. For example, someone might behave differently at work compared to how they behave
