This story makes it very clear that death is the focus of the story from the very start. It tells us that there is a plaque going around at the start of the story. If this wasn’t an important detail the author wouldn’t have included it. It also has a very obvious symbol for life which is the rooms of the palace. Each turn has a completely different room. This room also represents death because it is black and the windows look into the hallway. This is just like how people look back on their life when they die. The Red Death, which is the symbol for death is able to go through all the rooms and kill all of the guests. It didn’t matter what room they were in they were still killed. In "Do not Go Gently into that Good Night". The theme is kind of obscure. Due to the line "Do not go gently into that good night", it makes you think that the poem is about fighting death and not accepting it(Thomas, 1).
