The Time I went on a Retreat with my Youth Group.
My Youth Group had been planning a retreat for awhile and so we all decided to take a retreat to
Camp Rainbow in Kokomo,IN. None of us had ever heard of Camp Rainbow except our youth
group leader April because she grew up in Kokomo and went to Camp Rainbow as a kid.
So on September 15th everyone met at our church in Michigan City,IN around 7:00pm and we
loaded our stuff onto the back of the bus and claimed the seats we wanted and made sure all of
our friends were next to, behind, or in front of us. Then we left. Camp Rainbow was about 2
hours from Michigan City, the bus ride was really fun I talked to my friends Nick, Isabell, and
Samantha, It was dark by the time we got on the highway so we turned on the Christmas lights
and we took turns plugging our iPods into the speakers. When we got to Camp Rainbow we went
our huts that were wooden circular rooms about 16 ft off the ground without electricity.
So we took our stuff off the buss and the guys put their stuff in the guy's hut and the girls in the
girls hut, the leaders put their stuff in the smaller hut. Then my Youth Group leader PJ made a
fire in the fire pit and we got logs from the woods to sit on around the fire. We talked about old
memories from other youth group outings and played some games. Then we had to go to sleep so
the guys and girls went back to their huts, In the girls huts it was about 45 degrees out and
because it was dark when we unloaded the bus and their wasn't any electricity we couldn't really
see all of our stuff so all we had was the light of our cell phones to try and see but it still didn't
help much. We used what we could find that night which only sleeping bags and some of us
ended up with the some of the guys sleeping bags by accident. But we finally went to sleep. The
next morning because the huts only had on tiny window we didn't have much light so all the girls
walked up to the main building with our suitcases and duffel bags to change our clothes, brush
our teeth, and do our hair and makeup with some electricity. The guys didn’t come up to the building until it was time for breakfast because apparently they don't care what they are wearing.
When everyone got to the building we ate breakfast and then the girls walked our bags back to
the huts and went to meet up with the rest of the group who were heading over to a pavilion
where some lady was standing. When we all got to the pavilion we played some games and then
we went to the catwalk which is basically to telephone poles standing vertical with one laying
Horizontal about 73ft in the air and then you and your partner climb up each pole and the walk
across the horizontal and meet in the middle and then hold hands and fall back and then the
“professionals” gently lower you down. It was fun. Then we had Lunch. After lunch we played
some more game with the lady, and we discovered that there was free coffee so we got some
coffee and then went over to see the some of the animals that they had there which was boring,
then we went on a hike and then we went back to the huts and played ninja and hung out . Then
we ate dinner, after dinner back at the huts, our friend Nick, but everyone calls him Nave,
who used to be in youth group but graduated and is in College at Manchester University stopped
by and hung out with us. And then
