Again this week the author of our lesson reminds us that each of the Beatitudes rise above the one before it.
Remember last week we discussed Matthew 5:3
Matthew 5:3 describes a person who is meek.
Matthew 5:3
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
We then went onto Matthew 5:4 that described a person that is in a state of mourning.

That is where Matthew 5:6 explains what awaits a meek man who not only mourned over his sins but did something about it.
Matthew 5:6 5:6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.
If you are so committed in your search to become a righteousness person that others considered you to be hungry and thirsty for righteousness, you should then be able to describe to them what righteousness is.
The dictionary describes righteous as a person or conduct that is morally right or justifiable; the following list of words is used to describe a righteous person.
I think anyone of us would swell with pride if someone used any of the following words to describe us; good virtuous, upright, upstanding, decent, ethical, principled, moral, high-minded, law-abiding, honest, honorable and reasonable.
Two words found in that list used to describe a righteous person; probably couldn’t be used to describe anyone in this room; saintly or angelic.
When we begin thinking we are righteous people; we have to remember that biblical righteousness is not something we have earned or obtained by our good deeds.
