Mcintosh's White Privilege Analysis

As I was reading this, I was very curious as to when it was written. To read the closing points from McIntosh about how systematic change takes many decades and then find that this was written in 1989, was eye opening. For me, I would have assumed that this reading would have been from the past five years or so. I find it concerning that this reading is still so relevant. As a white male, I have not been able to see White Privilege from the views of others. I believe that it is difficult to be made aware of something that is engraved in our society without looking at it from the viewpoint of others. To see the list that McIntosh laid out, is a perfect example of a few ways that White Privilege exists. For many of the things she has listed, I knew thought about how that could be a problem for someone else. McIntosh, p.1) For me this quote stands out because, I can imagine the scene of a 3rd grade class room where the white males are told that not only are they privileged due to their skin color, but also because of their gender. Imagine how they would walk around high and mighty. For me, the issue is that this still happens, even without making these kids aware of it.
