Effective Writing in the Medical Office.
Written communication is as if you are having a conversation in person with someone. How the document is written whether it is through email, a letter, or even directions can play a part in how the individual reading said document may look at you or your scope of practice. In this paper I will discuss general guidelines for effective writing and the documents used in a medical office to better assist you as the medical assistant.
The first step for effective writing is to make sure that your document is clear, to the point, and has an appropriate writing style. Before you begin to write your paper always make sure that you address to the individual being spoken to and that you know the reason for why you are writing that document. In the century we currently live in, most of everyday uses are by technology which mainly allows for a quicker and easier turn over time. Some offices however may still use the old fashion technology within their facility. These old fashion documents include actual business letters or even regular everyday letters that are broke down and sent through the mail from the sender to the recipient. Other documents include using labels, invoices, statements, and filing patient folders. Our online technology includes mainly emailing, electronic screening, and electronic filing. The use of technology is much easier but it’s also very important to be able to know the classic way of doing things in case of an emergency. Between both the online and the classic document usage both need to be precise, clear, and always address the patient on the opposite end as one wrong tiny mistake can mess the entire system up causing a big mess for not only you, your office provider but also your patients as
