Europe’s medieval agriculture revolution was caused by the warming period. The climate of Europe became warmer than it was before and that improved the agriculture. Some of its consequences were the increase in Europe’s population, the emerging of new towns and that led to the emerging of monarchies in Europe. This also led to the shift of power and trade from the countries around the Mediterranean to Europe; not only agriculture power but also political. The Plantagenet’s emerged because of the political stability in Europe for the first time since the collapse of the Roman Empire.

He married Eleanor of the Aquitaine. He controlled England, Wales, Normandy, Anjou and Gascony. His marriage helped him control a big part of France because he married the king of France’s ex-wife. The church was really powerful at that time and everyone believed that the pope is god’s hand on earth. Henry II wanted to gain control over the court so he decided to appoint Becket as the archbishop of Canterbury; Thomas Becket was one of henry’s close friends. Becket was henry’s only way to get into church and to corrupt the country but Becket didn’t do anything in his favor and he took the side of the church against him. Some people say that Henry murdered becket but till now no one knows who really murdered him. “Henry was a canny and successful king, but he was not loved – not by his subjects, not by the church, and not by his family.” (Dutton, Marchand and Harkness 250) Henry II was a powerful leader because he organized his kingdom and unified it. The Magna Carta was a turning point for the limitations of the English king. The nobles of the country forced king john to sign the Magna Carta because he didn’t want to sign it at first. The British people were overly taxed so by signing this, it allows the creation of a parliament and it said that the king was no longer above the law. This also proves the increasing absolutism of the monarch. John was a weak king and the people did not love him because he did a lot of wrong decisions. Firstly, John’s army was defeated in Brittany so he had to increase the taxes just like Richard but not for the same purpose. Secondly, john and the pope disagreed on whom would be the next Archbishop of Canterbury and John refused to accept the one “Stephen Langton”; that the pope chose so the pope decided to place England under an interdict. The church law that was placed by the pope stated that the British people couldn’t perform any religious services until the pope would say they could. So this is why he was not loved by his people, he didn’t do anything good for his
