When I started watching the film Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) it reminded me of the musical Oklahoma!, both of these films are classic musicals. The film Meet Me in St. Louis tells a story about the Smith family, which embrace traditional family values and are well off living in St. Louis. The children are able to do whatever they want and appear to live in an untroubled world. Then the father lets the family know that they will be moving to New York which is devastating to the family. The move would have different impacts on the mother, four daughters, son and grandfather. This dilemma of having to move uprooting your family from their comfort zone was something that many people faced during WWII.
