The definition of Eurocentrism is “A form of ethnocentrism that uses European, ethnic, national, religious, and linguistic criteria to judge other peoples and their culture.” This is exactly what is happening in the 3-sources. The first Source is a quote from the book “Tribal laws, treaties, and government: A Lakota perspective by Patrick.A.Lee.” This quote is from the President of Amherst college when he spoke about the greed of Indians. The quote is from Mark cocker, British journalist, in Rivers of blood, Rivers of gold, 1998. The photo is a chart showing the estimated indigenous population of the Americas, 1492 and 1992. The quote is saying that even though Europe’s encounters with tribal peoples is a tale of extraordinary human achievement, but it is also a tragedy of staggering proportions. He even goes far enough to say that it represents the greatest and most persistent act of human destructiveness ever recorded. The evidence is in the picture. Over a short 300 years the Indigenous population of the Americas went from 57.3 million to 33.51 million. The biggest affect was easily the Caribbean that went from 5.85 million to a measly 0.001 million. The Caribbean culture and many others are now almost completely destroyed because of Eurocentrism.

The second source is saying that because of Eurocentrism constantly (literally) pulling away their culture and making it their own. The third and final source is showing us because of Eurocentrism that it has destroyed many cultures and has greatly decreased the population of indigenous peoples. In short the main idea is that Eurocentrism kills
