Next she should seek professional help or attend social support groups as stated before and possibly have her mother and brother go with her since this can be helpful for them too. After she established a better relationship with her family during counselling sessions, she should begin talking to her friends again and to other people her age. Her mother should enroll her in activities that she used to enjoy and also get her try new things such as dance, playing an instrument, or volunteering. The purpose of her joining extra-curricular events is to distract her from sulking at home and sleeping all day. She can attend after school sessions to get extra help and get herself back on track with school or even get a tutor to help her enhance her learning. When seeking the help that is necessary, she will be able to freely interact with her loved ones, peers, and society in an appropriate matter. Most importantly, Rachel should remind herself that her mother struggled with anxiety and for several years she was able to overcome her problems and without medication due to therapy.
