The way Mercutio delivers his curse "A plague o' both your houses!" if we look at the scenario this scene takes place we see that many of Mercutio's lines are very humorous and not as serious as Tybalts lines however once being accidentally hurt you can see the contrast between his tone. In addition to we can see that Mercutio has lost sympathy as due to the feud he has become a casualty. Instead of blaming Tybalt for his death he blames it on the Capulets and Montagues centuries-long disagreement.
