Brandon started behaving better in school but struggled in learning more and more. Lauren failed the third grade and started having weight issues. I got Brandon a tutor, which helped with his math. I started watching Lauren’s calorie intake, and we exercised together. Their lives started settling down into a normalcy when my brother got out of prison and requested visits with his children. The court appointed an officer at first gave them visitation and then stay overs even against my request. I could tell that it was a short-term fantasy of having their parents back. Brandon does his best in school academics so that he can continue to play sports. He wants to go to college and eventually become a professional football player. Lauren intends to go to Miami University and become a veterinarian. They have goals and are head high, and I am proud of them. Every Mother’s Day I get five cards saying mom, and when ever asked how many kids do I have I always say five. They introduced me to people like mom and dad which is okay with me.
