The current status of the criminal justice system in the United States is one that cannot be explained simply. Over the past decade, there have been a lot of situations that has tested civilians trust in the criminal justice system as well as controversial situations between law enforcement and the public. A big topic that continuously raises many contentious arguments and opposing sides is the shooting of unarmed men by law enforcement officers. Within this conversation springs a sub issue of whether these acts by law enforcement are racially driven and/or targeting a specific demographic. Over the last recent years, social media and the televised news has continuously covered stories like above that pertain to the excessive and wrongful use of force by police officers. One particular story, the fatal shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson gained a lot of attention. He was an unarmed teenager who was shot and killed by a police officer. The use of deadly force by police officers has formed a national debate and Michael Brown’s case in particular had and still has everyone analyze the situation and how the police treat minority communities. …show more content…
Wilson had previously been attending to a sick call and was driving towards where a dispatcher claimed a suspect of an armed robbery was heading towards a convenience store named Quiktrip.
