Microneedling is a nonsurgical procedure that designed to enhance skin quality by minimizing the “crepey” look, reducing the hyperpigmentation of the skin and reducing fine lines and wrinkles. It is a kind of collagen induction produced by a mechanical pressure applied to the dermis. Acne pock marks are also improved with this process and it can create a collagen bridge that is used to tighten stretch marks. A power hand-piece is used to produce small channels into the skin's dermis and this stimulates the natural healing process of the body to produce elastin and collagen.
Where is this technique used?
The power hand-piece can be used on the arms, hands face, décolleté, neck, abdomen and legs or areas where structurally weak skin exists, such as areas with stretch marks and contour deformities like wide depressed scars and divots. Diminished pigmentation is an additional benefit of microneedling, but it isn't usually used on the skin as a resurfacing technique. Vertical lines which form around the mouth can be reduced using microneedling. The dermal thickness of the skin is also improved with the reduction of small capillary vessels. …show more content…
The microneedling procedure of producing channels in the skin is much cheaper when compared to the Fraxel laser technique that uses a thermal injury process. The laser requires a number of treatments similar to the microneeding procedure and depending on the severity it will take 3 to 6 treatments. The number of sessions will be determined during the consultation. When the final objective is reached, a couple of maintenance sessions is recommended to keep up the good
