Have you ever had a talent that nobody else had, that seemed to defy all logic? Well that's the case for Charlie Bone, a boy who recently found one. In the book “Midnight for Charlie Bone” by Jenny Nimmo, Charlie finds that he can hear the voices of people it pictures. But when he is given an iron case supposedly swapped for a baby, Charlie’s perspective of the people around him changes drastically. If I were given the chance to be friends with Charlie I would kindly accept because Charlie sacrifices himself for others, is curious, and is determined.
One reason I would be friends with Charlie is because he’s a brave character. Sacrificing yourself for someone else is one of the best traits to have when being a friend, but also very hard. Throughout the book, Charlie helps his friends in need even when it doesn’t help himself. In the middle of the book, Charlie makes a good impression on his new friends by giving his own cape to another boy when the boy it haunted by his cape, “Charles took down his new cape and handed it over to Gabriel,’Thanks! Charlie starts in the book as any other school boy but gets more curious as the book continues. A quarter of the way through the book, Charlie gets more and more desperate to open the case but he doesn’t give up. After Charlie had received the tie from his mother, Charlie realized that this could be a clue to his father’s identity and personality and later on showed it to Gabriel and said, “Can you tell me anything about the person who wore this?’ Passing the tie to Gabriel” (Nimmo 188). This furthermore shows that Charlie uses his curiousness to find out more about his family.
