Over the past years, the use of marijuana has greatly increased within adults and children. Also for the first time ever, the majority including myself have voiced support for marijuana legalization in America. Marijuana should be legal for medical and recreational purposes for several reasons and a few is because marijuana isn’t necessarily a harmful substance and is arguably safer than alcohol and cigarettes. It also isn’t nearly as addictive as alcohol and cigarettes. In addition to that, cannabis which is another name for marijuana has been proven to have medical benefits for cancer patients, aids patients, it reliefs pain and other symptoms. Since the first time anybody has ever smoked marijuana, there has been neither complaints nor accusations of harmful things it has done to people. From my experience, the worst thing marijuana can do to a person is give them short term memory. Also, as a matter of fact, cannabis has never caused a single death of an individual when smoked but alcohol and cigarettes have and yet both of those substances are completely legal. I think that there’s something wrong with that, stating the fact that both of those substances also do not provide any medical benefits but weed which also means marijuana does. I believe that it is unfair to treat marijuana users more harshly under the law than the users of alcohol and tobacco. As many people know, cannabis has been proven to be very helpful for treating the symptoms of various medical conditions such as cancer, aids, and etcetera. Even after knowing this, I don’t understand why the federal law doesn’t make medical marijuana legal in all of the states in America.
