Epidemics are breaking out throughout Minnesota because people aren’t getting vaccinated. Minnesota - a well-known state for epidemics to break out - was the most infected state in the country during 2014. In the midst of the breakout, 622 schools were reporting an outbreak in their schools, while 80 kids got sick to the point of death, they needed to stay in the hospital (WCCO). Reasons people aren't getting vaccinated is because anti-vaccination groups during the years were exploiting fear, making families skeptical. With these fears, families were turning against vaccinations with blind eyes. If people keep turning their back on vaccinations, there will be many outbreaks, like the historic 2016 measles outbreak in Minnesota (Fox). With these outbreaks happening every year, Minnesota schools should change the Minnesota Immunization Law and force mandated vaccines with no exemptions because epidemics break out in many schools every year. …show more content…
With these exemptions many parents assume they can cheat the system and choose to not give their child vaccinations. How we as a community could change that rule, is to bring the problem to state legislatures and explain the problem with good cause. If passed, schools can give students vaccinations which are super effective in today’s society being at least 90-99% all the time (AAP). Having this law refined would prevent future epidemics.
