“There was a C-17 aircraft in McChord Air Force Base (AFB) that requested a part that Travis AFB wrongly order. It delay the repair time and cost.” The delay time for this aircraft include for the part being deliver to Travis AFB then to shipped to McChord AFB which it add more cost to be shipped overnight. As of right now, there is no checklist in place. The members it does not matter the rank or the experience order the parts without getting the right people involved. Out of the six lead technicians, the squadron currently has, they all agree that this checklist is going to decrease the wrong part ordering. They do not agree that they should get call-in to verify the parts, which they think they are making the young members responsible for their actions.
In addition, we have to take in consideration that we had in the spread of 7 days, four different inexperience members order the wrong amount and the wrong part. This is not only questioning the members experience but the production superintendent experience. In the next page is the example of the checklist I propose.
In conclusion, we have a problem in ordering the wrong mission capable parts Alpha 1 status that is a high visibility. We cannot prevent 100% the human errors, but we can minimize it. I interview several subject matter experts on different career fields and agencies. Secondly, why is important to add the Lead Technician step to this process will help to prevent the misuse of the Mission Capable Alpha1 (MICAP 1) Status.
