The author Jason Oda's main point in the essay "Misspelling the Word of” refers to how society follows the rules and traditions they are given even if the rules and/or traditions do not make sense to them as an individual. People may have different feelings, views, and beliefs from what society expects. I agree with Oda's point of view of rules and traditions to an extent. People ought to be allowed to live their life the way they see fit. Unless their actions are illegal or harm another living being. The major reasons why I agree with the author's position on authority, rules, and traditions is due to my belief regarding being married before having children. Not being married before having children is a sin in most cultures and religions.
