Abraham Lincoln was a successful political leader even though he was not completely taught. Martin Luther King Jr. was one of the most prominent non violent leaders of the civil rights movement. These two people were a very big deciding factor in how the black people’s civil rights battle went. They both delivered speeches saying how that all men are created equal and that it said so in the Constitution. They both believe that they should have the same rights but Lincoln believed that they should only have some of the same rights excluding the rights to have anything to do with politics, while MLK believed that they should have all the same rights. Lincoln was a political leader and only had eighteen months of formal education by the time he was an adult versus MLK who graduated high school at fifteen and went to two colleges. Lincoln’s parents were most likely illiterate, while MLK’s were well taught individuals. Lincoln was ok with using force to fight, but MLK was a pacifist. MLK won a nobel peace prize and Lincoln was known for leading and being part of America’s bloodiest war. MLK actually participated in the events that were occurring, while Lincoln seemed to sit back and watch. Lincoln was a partial supporter of black people’s right while MLK was a full one. MLK also had more than one attempts on his life before he was killed while Lincoln only had one.
So in conclusion both Lincoln and MLK were prominent leaders in the civil rights movements. The part that Lincoln took in the fight was more of a political move, but he still did what he believed was right. MLK went to every gathering that he could and was fully supporting of what people were doing as long as it was peaceful protesting.
