Abraham Lincoln once said, “Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent a new nation conceived and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal” (Lincoln). Lincoln believed that no matter what your skin color was, that you were equal to every other person around you. In this case it was that whites weren't the supreme race and that blacks were just as equal as them. This speech was said in November 19, 1863. It is now 1965, and still African Americans are being discriminated against.
Blacks were continuing to protest and fight for the rights they deserve. MLK believed that everything should be peaceful but he knew that if violence was involved than the nation would pay more attention to blacks.
