In the past, Native Americans and indigenous women (people) have not gotten attention when it comes to missing and murder person reports, but within the last decade the public has called attention to these crimes and how bad the lack of reports and lack of attention is to the Native American community. In this study we will explore the lived experience of indigenous communities, taking a phenomenological approach to the impact of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women (also known as MMIW) on cultural identity and collective trauma. I will build credibility and dependability by establishing trust. This will be seen through how I integrate into the community, and how I communicate my goals. Another way is through triangulation with adding more sources, utilizing multiple data sources, such as history resources behind MIWW, and questionnaires for those being interviewed. Reflecting on my own bias in discussing and reflecting on how these factors may influence data collection, analysis, and how I interpret my research. Using peer review in my research process to know I am on the right track and seeking feedback on my data.
What makes this a good qualitative study?
What makes this a good qualitative study is that there is a clear research focus which is seen in what the topic is and who the focus group is. This research is relevant; it is a very modern-day march that started within the last decade. Ethical considerations such as trustworthiness are addressed in this to address possible fears from participants.
