Early in the story Scout is kind of a brat. She doesn’t really care about anyone or anything she does what she wants and doesn’t like to listen to anyone. She doesn’t think about what she says and don’t think about how it will affect the person. Scout Finch behaves like an immature child at the beginning but after numerous different situations she finally starts to understand and stop thinking about herself and more of others. “Rose graciously on Walters behalf; Ah miss Caroline he’s a Cunningham” (Page 26) this is an example of scout when she is at school in class she didn’t think about what she was going to say or how it was going to affect her she just got right up and said it. “The school yard gave me some pleasure but when I was rubbing his noise in the dirt, Jem came up and told me to stop!” (Page 30) because of the previous incident in the class room Scout Finch did this to get back at him for getting her in trouble.
When the story continues scout starts to listen to people and caring a little she also starts to think a little bit before she talks and doesn’t get in fights with people over little things she calms herself down before she reacts. “That ain’t right, Miss Maudie. You’re the best lady I know.” (Page 59) After scout stopped hanging out with her brother so much her and Miss Maudie began a great relationship and scout start to show she cared and was polite to people. Scout and Cal never had a good relationship scout would ignore her and was kind of a snob to her. But it all a sudden changed when scout went to church with her and out of know where scout said “Cal Could I come see you sometime” (Page 167) scout and Cal Finally got a relationship and kept showing more people when she got older in age she cared and isn’t such a brat.
At the end of the story scout changed from being a brat to a caring respectful young lady she wouldn’t judge people she would listen and help them and listen to what others had
