A sea of green engulfed me, as I persisted down the uncovered trail that my brothers had so carelessly left behind. They should not be far off. My sense of trouble is tested, as curiosity overpowers me, the forest too, beckoning me to go deeper into its wilderness. As I pause to survey my surroundings, an orchestra of singing mockingjays echoes through the air. My grandmother once told me about these loveable creatures and their ability to mimic any human tone. The further I ventured into the concealed unknown; it appeared to be more obvious that I was entering the outskirts of familiar territory. Before I could question this thought, a penetrating gunshot pierces through the air causing me to momentarily lose balance and stumble, crashing into the dense ferns that once lied modestly above the forest floor. Still dazed with my heart pounding, I shift myself to an upright position. Mockingjays which had sang harmlessly in tune returned to their nest. I supressed the urge to run, just in case I drew any unwanted attention. Tobias and Quinn are still nowhere to be seen. I can see lilacs to my left that are now opening, dotted like lights across the forest floor, directing me back towards home.
