The only way to achieve true liberty is to seek it within ourselves before all else. We as a people can try to change laws and make amendments, but that never prevents the opposing group from attempting to amend the laws; it certainly does not prevent those who do not care to comply with the laws in the first place. If we as a whole are ever going to achieve true liberty, we must seek it within ourselves first. When immigrants come to America they are seeking opportunity, and a new life. Mohammed Naseehu Ali migrated to America to be a writer, and live a better life. After the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, Ali feared he would not be able to stay in America. Ali fought to remain in America, and applied for visas so he could remain in the country, so his children could have a better life. Immigrants migrate to America, and fight relentlessly to become a citizen; their determination to have a better life for themselves, and their family is what shows that they represent American ideals more than anyone else. If I were to create one rule that every American must follow, it would contradict what my most important ideal it is to be an American. America is unique due to the fact that our citizens fight for what they believe in; if I were to write a rule everyone was supposed to follow there would still be those who did not agree with the rule, and would not follow it; there would still be those who attempt to overturn the rule, and change the law. Nothing would come from making a rule that everyone was supposed to follow except protests and unhappy individuals.
